Introduction to Data Synchronization
Custom fields in AcceleratorApp allow you to standardize and reuse specific data across different areas, such as application forms, submission forms, feedback forms, user profiles, and startup profiles. Synchronization ensures that data remains consistent and up-to-date across these sections. This article explains how synchronization works in each scenario.
Custom Fields Location
Custom fields can be found and managed within the menu icon on the top left of the page under the Custom Fields section. They can be applied to multiple entities, including applications, users, startups, and feedback forms.

Step-by-Step Data Synchronization
1. Application Forms
When an applicant fills out an application form that includes a custom field and is later accepted into a program, the acceptance action ensures that the submitted data is automatically stored within their profile.
Example: If an applicant provides their LinkedIn profile in the application form, that data is saved to their user profile once they are accepted into the program.
2. Submission Forms
Submission forms are standalone units that can be added within courses and learning modules.
These forms can be configured to update user and startup profiles by synchronizing relevant fields.
Example: If a startup founder submits a business model update through a submission form within a course, the new information will sync to the startup profile if the same field is used in both sections of the app.
3. User & Startup Profiles
If a custom field is linked to a user profile, any updates made in a form (application, feedback, or another submission) can sync back to the user profile.
Similarly, for startup profiles, fields such as "Industry" or "Stage" will stay updated when edited in different forms.
Example: If an applicant selects "Series A" in a funding stage field during an application, and later updates it in a feedback form, the startup profile will reflect the latest value.
4. Feedback Forms
Custom fields in feedback forms can be configured to either collect independent inputs or sync with existing profile data.
If the feedback form fields are set to synchronize, any changes made will overwrite the corresponding fields in the startup or user profile.
Example: If a mentor creates a profile but does not complete all required fields, you can send them a feedback form containing the missing custom fields. Once the mentor fills out the form, the submitted data will automatically sync with their profile, ensuring completeness.
